Battery Usage and Optimization

Battery Usage and Optimization

aInspired is designed to be lightweight, but here are some tips if you're concerned about battery usage.

Normal Battery Usage

As a keyboard app, aInspired runs whenever you're typing. This is normal and similar to any keyboard app like Gboard or SwiftKey. Typical battery usage is 1-3% of your daily battery, depending on how much you type.

What Uses More Battery

  • Voice transcription -- Recording and processing audio uses more power than regular typing.
  • AI features (chat, phrase correction) -- These require network requests, which use some battery.
  • Glass/transparent themes -- Semi-transparent rendering can use slightly more GPU power than solid themes.
  • High screen brightness -- Affects all keyboard apps, not just aInspired.

Optimization Tips

1. Use On-Device Features When Possible

On-device phrase correction and the local AI model work without network requests, saving both battery and data.

2. Adjust Phrase Correction Timing

A longer correction delay means fewer cloud requests:

  1. Go to Settings > Typing > Phrase Correction.

  2. Increase the Correction Delay slider.

3. Use a Solid Theme

If you're on a strict battery budget, solid-color themes (especially dark or AMOLED themes on OLED screens) use less power than glass or image themes.

4. Reduce Effort Level

Lower effort levels complete AI requests faster, which means shorter active network time:

  • Go to Settings > Effort Level and use Low for everyday typing.

5. Prevent Battery Optimization from Killing aInspired

Android's battery optimization can sometimes be too aggressive with keyboard apps, causing them to stop working. To prevent this:

  1. Go to your phone's Settings > Apps > aInspired > Battery.
  2. Select Unrestricted (or "Don't optimize").
This doesn't increase battery usage -- it just prevents Android from killing aInspired in the background.

If Battery Usage Seems High

If aInspired appears to be using more than 5% of your daily battery:

  1. Check how long you've been actively typing. Heavy typing days will naturally show higher usage.
  2. Clear the app cache: Settings > Apps > aInspired > Storage > Clear cache.
  3. Make sure you're running the latest version of aInspired from the Play Store.
  4. Restart your phone.
If the issue persists, contact support with a screenshot of your battery usage screen.
