Voice Transcription Troubleshooting

Voice Transcription Troubleshooting

If voice transcription isn't working correctly, here are the most common issues and how to fix them.

No Sound / Microphone Not Working

  1. Check microphone permission. Go to your phone's Settings > Apps > aInspired > Permissions and make sure Microphone is set to "Allow."
  2. Check that no other app is using the microphone. Close any apps that might be recording (phone calls, voice recorders, video chat).
  3. Test your microphone. Open your phone's built-in voice recorder app and make a short recording. If that doesn't work either, the issue is with your device's microphone.
  4. Restart the keyboard. Close and reopen the app you're typing in, or toggle aInspired off and on in Settings > System > Keyboards.

Poor Transcription Quality

  1. Speak clearly and at a normal pace. The AI works best with natural speech patterns.
  2. Reduce background noise. Move to a quieter environment or speak closer to your phone's microphone.
  3. Try a higher effort level. If you're on Basic or Pro, switching to a higher effort level uses more powerful AI models that handle accents and background noise better. Go to aInspired Settings > Effort Level.
  4. Check your internet connection. Voice transcription requires an internet connection (unless using on-device models). A weak connection can cause incomplete or garbled results.

Wrong Language Being Detected

  1. Open aInspired Settings.
  2. Go to Voice & Transcription.
  3. Set your transcription language to the correct language.
  4. If you speak multiple languages, the AI will try to detect the language automatically, but setting it explicitly improves accuracy.

Transcription Is Very Slow

  • Check your internet speed. Voice data needs to be sent to AI servers and back. A slow connection will delay results.
  • Try reducing the effort level. Lower effort levels use faster (though slightly less accurate) models.
  • Long recordings take longer. If you're dictating for several minutes straight, expect some processing time.

Recording Saved but Not Transcribed

If your recording was saved but transcription failed, you can re-transcribe it:

  1. Open the keyboard toolbar.
  2. Tap the Import Recording tool.
  3. Select the saved recording from the list.
  4. Choose a provider and tap Transcribe.
Recordings are saved automatically when transcription fails, so you never lose your audio.

Daily Limit Reached

Free tier users have 5 voice transcriptions per day. Basic users have 30. If you've reached your limit, you can:

  • Wait until tomorrow when your quota resets

  • Watch a short video ad to earn extra quota (free tier)

  • Upgrade to a higher tier for more daily transcriptions
