Effort Levels Explained (Low, Medium, High)

Effort Levels Explained

aInspired lets you choose how much AI power to use for phrase correction and chat. This is called the "effort level."

What Are Effort Levels?

Effort levels control which AI models process your requests. Higher effort levels use more powerful (but slower) models, while lower levels use faster (but simpler) models.

The Three Levels

Low Effort

  • Speed: Fastest responses
  • Quality: Good for everyday typing and simple corrections
  • Best for: Quick messages, casual conversations, basic text fixes
  • Available on: All tiers (Free, Basic, Pro, BYOK)

Medium Effort

  • Speed: Moderate -- slightly slower than Low
  • Quality: Better handling of complex sentences, technical terms, and context
  • Best for: Work emails, longer messages, content that needs to be polished
  • Available on: Basic, Pro, and BYOK tiers

High Effort

  • Speed: Slowest -- may take a couple seconds longer
  • Quality: Best available models with superior understanding of nuance, context, and specialized vocabulary
  • Best for: Important documents, professional writing, creative content, complex questions
  • Available on: Pro and BYOK tiers only

How to Change Your Effort Level

  1. Open the aInspired app.
  2. Go to Settings > Effort Level.
  3. You'll see two settings:
- Phrase Correction Effort -- controls the AI model used for automatic text correction - Chat Effort -- controls the AI model used in the chat panel
  1. Tap the level you want for each.
  2. Changes take effect immediately.

How Effort Levels Affect Quota

On the free tier, all requests use Low effort. On paid tiers, higher effort levels use more of your daily quota:

  • Low: 1x quota usage
  • Medium: 2x quota usage
  • High: 3x quota usage
For example, if you have 10 chat messages per day on Basic and use Medium effort, each message counts as 2 toward your daily limit, giving you effectively 5 conversations at Medium quality.

Pro tier users have unlimited quota, so effort level has no impact on daily limits.

Tips

  • Start with Low effort for casual typing -- it's fast and handles most corrections well.
  • Switch to Medium or High when writing something important, like a work email or document.
  • BYOK users can freely use any effort level since they pay their AI provider directly.
